Fresh Wharf London: Delivering Resilient Network Infrastructure

At Fresh Wharf in the City of London, Intes is helping to create the network infrastructure for a landmark workplace transformation.

Working alongside our longstanding partner GBE, we delivered structured cabling, Cisco networking and wireless connectivity. Together, these systems provide a reliable foundation for the building’s digital infrastructure.

Transforming Fresh Wharf into a Modern Workplace

Formerly known as St Magnus House, Fresh Wharf sits at 3 Lower Thames Street in London.

The building is undergoing an extensive sustainability-led refurbishment. Developer Pegasi appointed Mace as principal contractor to transform the 11-storey property into 120,000 sq ft of premium workspace.

Designed by Buckley Gray Yeoman, the development will combine modern offices with outdoor spaces, riverside hospitality and public realm improvements.

Furthermore, the project targets BREEAM Outstanding, WELL Platinum, NABERS 4.5 Stars and WiredScore Platinum certifications.

The Challenge: Delivering Network Infrastructure Under Pressure

Large commercial refurbishments require careful planning and coordination. At Fresh Wharf, the demanding construction programme also created tight deadlines and budget requirements.

The project needed a specialist team to manage containment, structured cabling and active network equipment.

Therefore, GBE required a dependable partner with strong technical knowledge and practical installation experience.

Intes brought both capabilities to the project. Our longstanding relationship with GBE also helped us understand the team’s expectations and coordinate the installation.

Built from the backbone up

A reliable commercial network starts with a strong physical foundation.

At Fresh Wharf, Intes delivered an integrated infrastructure package covering containment, fibre optic cabling, copper cabling and active networking.

Structured Cabling and Fibre Optic Connectivity

Our installation included secondary containment, an OM4 fibre optic backbone and Cat6A copper cabling supplied by Mayflex.

Together, these components provide the physical connections that support the building’s network.

We also coordinated the passive cabling infrastructure with the active network equipment. As a result, one specialist team managed both elements of the installation.

Cisco Networking for Resilience and Performance

Modern commercial buildings depend on reliable connectivity to support everyday operations.

For Fresh Wharf, Intes delivered Cisco active network infrastructure, including stacked core switching and Catalyst edge switches.

In addition, the firewall design uses a high-availability configuration. This approach helps maintain network services if one firewall becomes unavailable.

By combining structured cabling with active networking expertise, we supported a coordinated infrastructure installation.

Centrally Managed Wi-Fi for Landlord Areas

Reliable wireless connectivity is another important part of a modern workplace.

At Fresh Wharf, Intes installed a Cisco wireless LAN controller and Catalyst wireless access points within the landlord areas.

The central controller supports consistent wireless settings across the system. Furthermore, it simplifies ongoing network administration.

This approach gives the building management team a centrally managed wireless infrastructure.

A Connected Foundation for Fresh Wharf

Fresh Wharf demonstrates the value of combining structured cabling and active networking within one specialist team.

From OM4 fibre and Cat6A cabling to Cisco switching and wireless connectivity, Intes delivered an integrated network infrastructure package.

Our established partnership with GBE also supported coordination throughout the project.

As Fresh Wharf continues its transformation, this infrastructure provides a connected foundation for the building’s future workplace.
